Learning Activity #1 – Process Objectives and Flow charting (Part 1)
Think of the last time you tried to resolve a problem using the telephone or email with a service provider (cable or satellite company, a bank, utility company, or a government agency). Suppose the service provider hires you as a consultant. You decide to apply either the process improvement steps from the Kate Keene & Continuous Improvement Process Video or from the Business Process Handbook article in improving the service provider’s process. Create a current state flow chart and identify and discuss two challenges in the process related to the problem you identified. Specifically discuss how difficult you believe it will be to overcome the challenges.
Learning Activity #2 – Process Objectives and Flow charting (Part 2)
Using the same resources as Learning Activity #1, create a future state flow chart to illustrate how you might overcome these challenges. This will likely require you to redesign the process. Discuss the length of time to make changes and the potential cost.
Note: All learning activities must show how and why you came to the conclusions made and they must be supported by the class material.
