Assignment #4: Final Project – Apply an Improved Process (Week 8)
Purpose:
The purpose of this assessment is to be able to apply the concepts behind process improvement to create a slide presentation that outlines all the steps in the improvement process. This assignment is the fourth of four assignments that seeks to have the student apply steps of identifying a business process and improving its effectiveness for organization success.
Outcomes:
- The student will identify the control aspect of the improvement process.
- The student will identify the importance of sustainability in a successful process project.
- The student demonstrate understanding of how process improvement efforts are successfully created and completed within an organization.
- The will improve written presentation and critical thinking skills.
Instructions:
Using the instructor approved idea from phase one of the series, update the process improvement idea by adding the following information:
- Identify, explain and apply the control function and measures to be taken for your process improvement project.
- Identify, explain, and apply the idea of sustainability and how its relationship to the process project under discussion.
- Create a 12-20 slide PowerPoint presentation that describes the process behind improving your process for organizational effectiveness.
STEP #1 Using the class material to create the Final PowerPoint .
Include in the Presentation:
- Create slides for every aspect of the process improvement steps that you have taken in each phase of the project. The slide (s) should reflect and explanation of the required step and how you applied it to your chose process.
- Create a slide(s) which introduces the idea of the control function in the process improvement project.
- Create a slide(s) that illustrates how you applied the idea to your process project.
- Create a slide(s) which introduces the idea of sustainability in the process improvement project
- Create a slide(s) that illustrates how you applied the idea to your process project.
- Create a summary slide that shows the application of the process from start to finish.
- Create a slide with a Title page.
- Create a slide with a Reference List.

STEP #2
How to Set Up the PowerPoint
- The PowerPoint cannot exceed 20 slides that includes the title page and reference page.
- The presentation should be professional in appearance.
- Provide notes (in the note section of the slide) for every slide of the entire PowerPoint presentation.
- Be sure to use in-text citations in the slides and notes themselves, and a reference list in the PowerPoint presentation.
- Slides should flow in terms of organized ideas and presentation.

Preparation for Writing the Slides and Notes
Before you begin writing the slides and notes, read the following additional requirements that your must demonstrate.
- Read the grading rubric for the assignment. Use the grading rubric while writing the paper to ensure all requirements are met that will lead to the highest possible grade.
- Third person writing is required. Third person means that there are no words such as I, me, my, we, or use (first person writing), nor is there use of you or your (second person writing). - Contractions are not used in business writing, so you are expected NOT to use contractions in writing this assignment.
- You are expected to paraphrase and NOT use direct quotes.

- You may not use books as source material
- All in-text citations should provide the page number or paragraph number.
Step #4
Review the PowerPoint Upon Completion
- Read the PowerPoint to ensure all required elements are present.
- Use the grading rubric to ensure that you gain the most points possible for this assignment.
- Proofread the paper for spelling and grammatical issues, and third person writing.
- Read the paper aloud as a first measure;
- Use the spell and grammar check in Word as a second measure;
- Have someone who has excellent English skills to proof the paper;
- Consider submitting the PowerPoint to the Effective Writing Center (EWC). The EWC will provide 4-6 areas that may need improvement.
